Another milestone to celebrate! Thanks to the dedicated efforts of our colleagues at the Pella and Maassluis production sites, we celebrated an annual production record of the 5000th Astronaut this year. This not only represents a numerical achievement, but also embodies the spirit of innovation that defines our commitment to excellence in automated dairy solutions.
Lely Sphere, an innovative solution that can contribute to mitigating environmental impact, has earned the prestigious 'Silver Hoof' innovation prize by significantly reducing nitrogen emissions in the barn by an average of 77%. Not only can this technology contribute to lowering the environmental impact of dairy farming, but it can also transform manure into a circular fertilizer, contributing to sustainable agricultural practices.
The announcement of this award was made in anticipation of Agribex in Brussels, Belgium. Alain Vander Cruys, the coordinator at Fedagrim, advocates for the adoption of Lely Sphere: ‘The use of Lely Sphere makes it possible to convert an existing barn into a barn with significantly lower ammonia emissions’.
Towards the end of the year, Lely launched the next generation of the Discovery Collector. This advanced model features increased driving capacity and incorporates wireless-charging technology. The enhanced capabilities of the new Discovery Collector, achieved through more frequent operation, result in a cleaner barn floor. This, in turn, contributes to maintaining cleaner claws, reduces the presence of manure in the cubicles, and helps to keep udders clean.
The debut of the next-gen barn cleaner occurred at the RMV exhibition in the Netherlands, marking its initial introduction to the public. The Discovery Collector is now available for implementation on a global scale, reflecting Lely's commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions to enhance efficiency and hygiene in dairy farming worldwide.
We celebrated our 75th anniversary on 2 June and hosted a VIP event. From 6 – 8 June we welcomed our Lely Centers, employees and press in the Netherlands to celebrate our history, experience the present and build towards the future. Let’s look back on a great week!
During our 75 years anniversary celebrations, we launched our new vision on the Farm of the Future 2035. With a growing global population, the need to make sensible decisions about food production has become increasingly clear.
In September we kicked off a content campaign to raise and increase internal and external awareness around our vision and the five impact areas it consists of.
The year 2023 marked our 75th anniversary, a significant milestone in our journey. A milestone made possible by the loyalty of our farmers worldwide and the tireless support of our Lely Centers, partners and dedicated employees. We wanted to express our sincere gratitude and immense pride for their contributions, so to commemorate this remarkable event and share our pride, we launched our anniversary celebration. This year-long celebration aimed to honour our rich history, celebrate our present achievements, and set the course for an innovative future. We reflected on past innovations and milestones driven by the passion and dedication of our people and embraced by our farming community. Together, we look forward to continuing our journey of progress and collaboration in the years to come.
We celebrated several achievements in the course of 2023: our 75th anniversary celebration, the production of the 1000th Treatment Box and 5000th Discovery Collector, the production of ‘The Dairy Experience’ podcast, and the organisation of multiple events/exhibitions. But there was more…
