Our ambition includes helping our customers to access and inform themselves about Lely solutions at any time of day, from anywhere in the world and in any way the customer wishes (either in person or online). We put our customers in the driving seat, allowing them to choose how they want to work with Lely and we design our systems accordingly. That means we increasingly work in a way that our customers desire.
Darcy and Lanna Mason
Canadian farmers
Darcy and Lanna Mason, proud owners of the Canadian Mason Farms, made the transition to automatic milking in 2013. The arrival of the Lely Astronaut milking robot provided the flexibility they needed to spend more time with their children, making their day-to-day lives more satisfying and enjoyable. Lanna: ‘We find that older dairy farmers in general are amazed when they visit our farm and see the robot for the first time. They just stand there in awe. We're also still amazed sometimes, seeing a cow just walk in there, on her own free will, to get milked. She's eating feed, she's calm and content. It's still very exciting.’
Horizon
In 2021, we started the roll-out of Horizon, our farm management system. Horizon monitors and collects data to help dairy farmers make better decisions and forecast and improve the performance of their cattle. In 2022 – only 15 months after its first introduction – 82% of our clients were already using Horizon.
Lessons learned from this implementation helped us further improve the product. In 2023, we are shifting our focus from innovation to customer centricity. We not only want our clients to start using Horizon, but we also want them to like using it. That is why we are continuously adding new functionality by improving the platform’s useability, user interfaces and speed, ensuring that Horizon will soon be the preferred platform for collaboration with all our farmers.
A more sustainable value chain
In 2022, we welcomed our new supplier for warehousing and transportation of Lely Consumables: Mainfreight. Our cooperation with Mainfreight allows us to further professionalise our services and contributes to a more sustainable value chain. In 2023, we will optimise the IT environment around the transportation of our consumables and focus on automating several logistics activities. This will allow us to improve our efficiency level. In 2023, we will also join forces with Mainfreight to make Lely more recognised around Europe; by branding all trucks with the Lely logo, we will certainly be spotted on the European roads!
Lely designs and develops its innovations with the customer and cow in mind. Our employees are inspired daily by the challenges and opportunities that dairy farming presents. Some are even dairy farmers themselves. By listening to dairy farmers and truly understanding their needs, whether or not they are aware of them, we continue to innovate. All in pursuit of a singular goal: to simplify the lives of dairy farmers around the world and to work towards a sustainable, profitable and enjoyable future in farming. By working closely with our customers and developing products in partnership, we deliver the right product, the right level of support and the highest quality service.
