Outlook

As for developing our own global organisation, we will take further steps in the implementation and adoption of our new organisational set-up. In addition, a third Great Place to Work survey is coming up for the Netherlands, as well as in Lely Centers and in several Lely offices around the world for the first time. Cyber security remains a top priority, and we will implement several projects in 2024 to maintain awareness at a high level.

Professional and personal development

Marlou Wisgerhof
Manager Lely Academy

‘As manager of the Lely Academy, I aim to create an inspiring and instructive work environment. At Lely, we believe that we can only grow and realise our ambitions if our employees grow and develop as well. Therefore Lely and the Lely Academy support employees in their professional and personal development to help them get the best out of themselves.’

Diversity and inclusion

Lely believes in an inclusive work environment which embraces diversity. Our Lely values and behaviours guide us in how to work together and act. Our ambition is to have a 70%-30% men-women ratio by 2030 across our (senior) managerial roles. To achieve these targets, we will implement several initiatives on diversity and inclusion by means of communication, leadership, guidelines, training and sharing knowledge on the subject. We believe that our focus on diversity and inclusion will contribute to sustainable, long-term business results and employment relationships.

Lely Academy

The Lely Academy supports employees in their professional and personal development, helping them to get the best out of themselves. Lely Academy aims to create an inspirational and instructive work environment, with a focus on continuous learning. Our development mindset is a guiding principle, by means of which we strengthen our power of innovation. OneLely is our organisational programme for attitude and behaviour, in which we focus on working together as a team – one family with one goal.

In 2023 the focus was on following up on the actions agreed as a result of the Great Place to Work survey conducted in the Netherlands in 2022. These discussions were continued at a team, departmental, and organisational level. For those international locations where we had also performed a Great Place to Work survey, actions were defined and followed-up.

Cyber security

Cyber Security is one of our top priorities. A team of experts works daily from the Lely Cyber Security Center to improve the digital security of our organisation. In 2023, we focused on creating internal awareness by implementing several online and offline projects, dedicating our We Are Lely employee magazine to the topic and sharing stories, interviews, and tips about how to become cyber secure. We also added cyber security to the onboarding process for new employees. As well as creating awareness among colleagues, our cyber security team has worked with the Lely Centers to improve digital security.

Developing our future
way of working

In order to be ready for growth and better support the delivery of our mission, vision and strategy, we launched a new organisational structure in September. Growth requires shorter and simpler processes with clear responsibilities, and the future organisational model is centred on a matrix, with five Business Teams that are end-to-end responsible, supported by Competence Centers and Shared Services. We are convinced that this organisational set-up will help to successfully bring our products and services to the market: a balanced portfolio with a high level of satisfaction among farmers, Lely Centers and employees. To familiarise colleagues with the new structure, we have developed a game and organised OneLely training sessions.

Develop a winning
organisation

We invest in our people, systems, processes and organisational structure in order to remain a leader in farming innovation. With around 2,500 employees in more than 50 countries, it is important that we operate as a OneLely team. Working together as a team is something we value greatly within our family-owned company. We are moving with our changing world and preparing for the future, anticipating new market and global developments that will affect our company, our employees and our customers. By giving our employees the tools and structure they need to stay ahead of the market, we are creating a future-proof organisation which can contribute to the creation of a sustainable, profitable and enjoyable future in farming.
